Ben Jealous is running on a bold platform to restore Maryland’s promise as a national leader in education and healthcare. We can do so much better than we are right now, but we can’t settle for just good enough. Jealous has comprehensive plans to fully fund Maryland’s schools and raise teacher pay, and fix our broken healthcare system by putting in place Medicare-for-All and getting a better deal on prescription drug prices. Maryland can get back to winning big progressive victories, but it requires a governor with the courage to lead.
Larry Hogan’s incrementalism may appear harmless but has actually caused the state to go backwards on education and healthcare. Maryland schools once led the nation but have fallen backwards in reading and math achievement as the state’s education funding has become inadequate. Maryland families are paying higher premiums and deductibles, whiling paying more out of pocket for prescription drugs. Focused more on the past than the future, Larry Hogan is now running for re-election with no plan or ideas to make improvements in education and healthcare.
