Michael Lukas, candidate for Charles County Board of Education

Michael “Mike” Lukas currently serves on the Board and has served as Chair/Vice Chair. Mike was born in Washington D. C. and moved to Maryland when he was seven. He has lived in Charles County for 25 years and devotes his time to community service with organizations including the Greater Waldorf Jaycees.

Mike believes a quality public education system is the cornerstone of any great community. His desire is to ensure equity in our schools so every child has the opportunity to receive a great education! Mike serves as the representative to the MABE legislative subcommittee and the state Fine Arts Advisory Panel.

Mike has worked for 34 years as an Engineer and Manager for the Navy. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Maryland and completed graduate classes at The Naval Post Graduate School. He lives in La Plata with his wife, Kim, (a teacher) and his son Kris who is a CCPS graduate and attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
